That career lightbulb moment sometimes takes the form of an actual lightbulb. Especially if you’re on the set of HBO’s Love & Death as a lighting tech, watching Stranger Things cinematographer Tim Ives light the set every day.
Keegan is fixated on the look of a scene — and how a story comes together on video. With a degree in Radio, TV & Film from the University of Texas at Austin, he does whatever it takes behind the scenes of a production. Early PA coffee runs led to the lighting department and operating condors (the big crane that lights attach to, not the birds). His up-close insight about lighting inevitably drew him to cinematography, followed by directing.
Working with elite actors and filmmakers, he realized something. They go to work like the rest of us. They just work on a different level. Really hard — ideally with people they love and trust. That same high-caliber energy drew him to Stoltz as our video producer. He digs the continuous, collaborative variety of agency life and all the viewpoints you get to encounter.
Off set, he’s analog all the way. Playing drums. Shooting on (real) film. Riding and perpetually fixing up motorcycles. His lowkey dream night? Watching his OG favorite movie The Thing on a big screen with his wife, Payton. And his cat, dog, and two birds, if they’re into 80s sci-fi horror.
