We’re casting the lead for The Guide — a confident, casually funny, and relatable character in their late 20s to early 30s. This role calls for a strong comedic performer with great timing and a natural, everyday presence. Someone who feels like your favorite barista or that Trader Joe’s cashier who low-key makes your day.
We’re looking for talent who can guide viewers with warmth, wit, and a touch of self-awareness—think Jason Sudeikis, Jenny Slate, Abbi Jacobson, or Ben Schwartz. Must feel comfortable on camera in public spaces. Improv skills a plus.
Please send us a quick audition video—cell phone quality is totally fine. We’ve included a few lines from the opening of the script and a link below to help capture the tone and vibe we’re going for.
General Style/Tone/Character Inspiration
(Location: On The Street) A cyclist rides up, going around a line of cars waiting to enter a parking garage, casually dismounts the bike, walks directly to the camera, never breaking eye contact.
The Guide: “Dealing with parking and traffic, again???”
Walking their bike towards the camera
The Guide: “Yeah, don’t do that. Taking the bus is easy.”
The Guide: “First, you gotta know where you’re going. That’s what the internet is for.”
Pulls out phone, opens rideVRT.org.
The Guide: “Just type in your destination — it tells you what bus to take, where to catch it, and when it’s coming.”
Puts phone down with satisfaction
The Guide: “Step one, done.”
