A former Fortune 500 company, Boise’s Trus Joist pioneered the engineered wood category and was purchased in 2000 by Weyerhaeuser. In August 2009, investors bought back the commercial division. Unable to use the well-known Trus Joist brand, SMG was able to provide the company with a new name (inspired by TJ co-founder “Red” Thomas), web site, corporate identity, graphic standards, interim collateral, PR roll-out and press conference—all within one week.
